Hi @Barkeep49: - you tagged this article as needing citations (refimprove). I noticed that my source was inserted as an External Link, so I've updated it to be a Reference (as I based this page on the previous season's competition, I guess that will also need updating in this manner). As the Luxembourg FA and Soccerway sites don't have records going back this far on their current website, this is the only reliable source I've found so far for early seasons of the competition. Does it need more to be untagged, or can it already be untagged like this? It would be good to know here because I have the same data for other seasons - if I can get it right here, it will hopefully be right for the other seasons I would add at a later date. Cheers, --Philk84 (talk) 15:22, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Philk84: I counted your external link as the reference. My issue is that particular website gives me a lot of pause given its design which reminds me of every great web page of 1998. While there might not be other online references do books or other records exist which can serve as references? The idea of the cup is clearly notable but the current sourcing is troubling in my opinion. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 15:53, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Barkeep49:, I agree, there are many Luxembourgish websites that seem to be stuck in the mid/late 90s. This one even uses frames! It does seem to be reliable though, as from the pages I've looked at it matches the data on Soccerway and the Luxembourg FA.
I'll see if I can find some other sources for this in the next few days and let you know.
Does this also mean the first season of this cup also needs a citation update? That season also only references Fussball-Lux. Cheers, --Philk84 (talk) 16:19, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In general I would say basing ANY page on one source (even if it's a gold standard source which this is not even if it is reliable) is some cause for worry hence my refimprove ont his page which I found through NPP. If you've created other similar pages I'd encourage you to see if other sources out there can help verify/improve those as well too. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 16:21, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Just as an update: Apart form the Italian Wikipedia, which doesn't cite it's sources outside the final, I can only find things online relating to the final. I'm going to take a look in some bookshops, see if there's any local books about the history of football stretching back this far for confirmation. --Philk8411:44, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
