A Final?

Not sure if we need to. There was to be a challenge with Sydney, and the trustees considered the Toronto-Victoria series to be a challenge. So there is no black and white. Thinking further... How to classify the Toronto vs. Montreal series that preceded this, since the Stanley Cup was also awarded Toronto then? This is why I wanted to create championship articles for each year from 1893 to 1914, when the Stanley Cup was awarded more than once a calendar year. That would make everything neat and tidy. With a 1914 Stanley Cup Finals article now, where does that preceding series go? To a 1914 Stanley Cup championship article? It gets a tad confusing. Why don't we revert this back to 1914 Stanley Cup championship, list the Montreal series and the Victoria series as a World Series. Jmj713 (talk) 15:57, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

When I read the Globe articles for 1914, they did not mention the Stanley Cup in the reporting for Toronto-Montreal, while the Toronto-Victoria series was called the Stanley Cup series. In fact, it was going to possibly be a three-team tournament for the Cup. I'll grab some text.
