"On June 7, ships in the Gulf of Mexico began encountering a low pressure area with a closed circulation about 100 mi (160 km) southeast of Port Eads, Louisiana.[4]" "began encourtering" sounds weird in this context since in those days, weather reports were heavily based on ships. "Some locations in eastern North Carolina reported strong winds, particularly at Fayetteville, there were was a "severe local storm".[4]" grammar error at the end of this sentence.
