Election results source doesn't support them

[edit]

I was doing some research on Fred McBrien, for his Wikipedia article, and came across this election article. I checked the claimed source, the 3 January 1910 Toronto Daily Star and noticed it did not have detailed results, as those were printed in a special extra edition on the night of the election (the 10:00 p.m. special edition), according to an article on page two of the 3 January paper. The only mention of Mr. McBrien's result, is also on page two, and states "...young McBrien was equally in the dumps when told he placed fourth in Ward 6." That's the level of detail of the 3 January 1910 paper, so I don't know where the numbers for each candidate came from, certainly not from the source quoted. The special extra edition from 1 January 1910 is not online in the Proquest database, therefore I have to question the veracity of these results, since they failed the verifiability test, and therefore I am going to have to mark the article as needing reliable citations.--Abebenjoe (talk) 16:06, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I did find detailed results in the The Globe's 3 January 1910 newspaper. The ward candidates and plebiscite totals on page one, right columns. I haven't had the chance to verify the results. I may get to it today, but if not, others at least now have a reliable online source to verify the results.--Abebenjoe (talk) 16:22, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As it turns out, the 3 January Toronto Daily Star does have the figures, they are on the extreme right column that was cut-off by my monitor, so my mistake. Anyway, we now have two reliable sources for the 1 January 1910 outcome.--Abebenjoe (talk) 20:26, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
