Please explain scheduling quirk
[edit]Notice that Detroit won the AL pennant by only 1/2 game over Cleveland. Can someone insert explanation regarding the unequal number of games played by these teams? In 1972, because games cancelled during an early-season strike were not made up, Detroit played 1 more game than the Boston Red Sox, and took the AL East by 1/2 game over the Red Sox. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.82 (talk) 20:38, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
