democrats

[edit]

I dont want to actually edit this, since it has sources cited, but https://history.house.gov/Institution/Party-Divisions/Party-Divisions/ says there were 83 democrats, not 81. If we add what everyone agrees was the opposition party (100), and the american party(51), with 81, it is equal to 232, not 234. 234 is how many people are supposed to be in the house at this time. so there should be 83 democrats. unless some other number is wrong. Please correct either the number or my reasoning. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.8.0.165 (talk) 15:39, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Free soil party?

[edit]

The free soil party supposedly won 1 seat in this election, but I cannot find who it was anywhere. It is not on the map (which gives the seat to the republicans), and none of the republicans elected had major affiliations with the republican party. Am I overlooking something? Nevermind, the free soil candidate was elected under free soil, but switched to american which explains why the know nothing party page shows them with 52 for this election, not 51. His name was Alexander De Witt, here is his page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_De_Witt.

Move discussion in progress

[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:1788 and 1789 United States House of Representatives elections which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 21:18, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
