TAC - 1961 to 1976, SAC - 1976 to 1992
[edit]Contrary to the history text under "Cold War". the 128th Air Refueling Group (later "Wing") and the assigned 126th Air Refueling Squadron was assigned to Tactical Air Command from 1961 until 1976 during which the group/squadron flew KC-97 air refueling aircraft. In 1976, when the group/squadron converted to KC-135 tankers, it was transferred to Strategic Air Command. The dates of the group's assignment to Air Combat Command and Air Mobility Command appear correct. Unfortunately, I have no written sources for these assignments and my information is based on being assigned to a co-located Tactical Air Command unit. Possibly someone has access to sources which can verify or refute my information.--TGC55 (talk) 17:40, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Article said unit was assigned to SAC. Although SAC was one of its gaining commands it was never assigned to SAC, so this statement has been removed without replacement. --Lineagegeek (talk) 20:20, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
F-89 upgrade
[edit]The following was moved from the article:
Edit: That last line is incorrect in that the unit took on the F-89 aircraft in 1955 (give or take a few months). I joined the Wis ANG in January 1955 and there were F-89C aircraft on the ramp at that time. The F-89D came along in 1957 followed by the 89J in 1960. My source is myself having enlisted at that time. Dick Gardner --Lineagegeek (talk) 21:21, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
