1st Battalion, 123rd INF isn't linked with the 123rd Inf Regt's lineage.....
[edit]1st Battalion, 123rd Infantry was established in 1967 as a mechanized unit with lineage associated with the 106th Cavalry, not the 123rd Infantry Regiment from WW2. The motto for the unit was "Guide on Our Tracks" and the DUI is built around the 106th Cavalry's service during WW2. This unit was the first Army unit that I served in (it was light infantry being converted into an air assault formation when I got there) and I remember the confusion with which DUI we wear. We were issued the Guide on Our Tracks DUI that was created specifically for the 123rd Infantry (Mech). Bugkill (talk) 05:37, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
