25 Bde Artillery
[edit]According to Cron, p. 328 (Imperial German Army 1914-18), the Div had 12 Field Artillery Btys. Further, on p. 371, Cron lists 40 Ersatz Artillery Detachments (= Btns) in existence on 2 Aug 1914; 2 from each of the following Korps: G, II - XIV, XVIII, XIX, XXI, Bav I - III. According to other wiki articles, 17 of the original 19 Ersatz Bdes have a pair of Ersatz Field Artillery Btns drawn from the same (pre-mobilisation) Korps as its infantry. Logically, I would thus infer:
- 25 Ersatz Bde should also have the 22nd Btn (VII Korps, as is the 43rd Btn)
- 55 Ersatz Bde should have the 14th & 76th Btns (both XIV Korps)
I have no idea as to what formation the two remaining Btns (31st & 67th, both XXI Korps) were part of.
If anyone has any definite info on any of these Ersatz Artillery Btns, I would be grateful.Glevum (talk) 18:10, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
