Notability
[edit]This has been tagged for notabiltiy, so opening discussion. Like all asteroids under 2000, needs discussion before redirecting/keeping as is. Pinging tagger Carbon6 and creator Python eggs. If found non-notable, redirection to List of minor planets: 1–1000 would be the best option. Boleyn (talk) 18:01, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
- Unlike the case with 501 Urhixidur, this asteroid is a smaller main-belt asteroid that appears to lack enough data to make it notable. I would support a redirect unless more data can be found to prove its notability. Carbon6 21:13, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
- This asteroid, as with most, rates as a Low importance object and should be kept. This is not some provisionally named minor body with few observations. --mikeu talk 21:26, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
- Mu301, without something unique or special to say about Piazzia, it is going to be hard to make a fairly common main-belt asteroid that is less than 50km in diameter very notable by Wikipedia standards. Piazzia does not even get brighter than apparent magnitude 14.0. I once proposed making all MBAs greater than 50km in diameter notable by definition, but after the asteroid wars of 2015, I would say such a rule could/should only apply to MBAs greater than 70km in diameter. -- Kheider (talk) 19:53, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
- While size matters, especially for minor planets, there are other considerations to be taken into account as well. I think the revised the stub about the asteroid named in honour of Giuseppe Piazzi should no longer be considered for deletion, i.e. redirection to the List of minor planets#Main Index. In general, whenever you create a #REDIRECT, please remember to to fully implement its categories, defaultsort, section-anchor and cat-sortkeys, accordingly, and to remove the link on the mentioned list, as you would create a WP:SELFREDIRECT otherwise. Thx, Rfassbind – talk 22:52, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
