See WP:NASTRO. What are we going to do about all these articles? This is a massive problem. Leadership needed! Chrisrus (talk) 17:41, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- The best place for such a discussion is not a single dwarf planet's talk page, but rather a WikiProject's - say, WT:WikiProject Solar System. Huon (talk) 18:47, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Previous appeals to the astronomy community made it clear they would ignore the problem. It's time to appeal to the wider community. Chrisrus (talk) 19:17, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Actually there was such a discussion some time ago, regarding these very articles: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Astronomy/Archive 8#User is factory creating articles for un-notable objects. That discussion resulted in WP:NASTRO. If you feel this article doesn't satisfy that guideline, I suggest WP:PROD or WP:AFD. Huon (talk) 18:59, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- You are right, that resulted in NASTRO, but it didn't result in any plans to implement NASTRO to these already created articles, which is the problem I'm trying to point out.
- You say "if I feel" this article violates NASTRO, or I presume, WP:GNG, that's what I should do. Do you harbor some doubt that it does?
- I've already opened a WP:AFD for another of these. Nothing happened. Chrisrus (talk) 19:17, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- I haven't looked for sources, so while I expect the asteroid isn't notable, I cannot guarantee that. That said, cyclopia's suggestion at WP:Articles for deletion/:(5796) 1978 VK5 sounds good to me: Redirect these stubs to the corresponding list if they're not individually notable. That doesn't even require an AfD discussion. Huon (talk) 19:49, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, but how? I can't delete articles, and I can't create a redirect until the article has been deleted. There are so many of these, it can't be done by hand, it must be done by bot. Chrisrus (talk) 22:41, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

- Of course you can create redirects without deleting the article. I have done so for this article as an example. However, you should also merge the relevant information into the list if it isn't there already; I don't think a bot can easily do so. Huon (talk) 23:47, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. However, the point is not this article per se but the countless articles like it. We need a project with a system. Chrisrus (talk) 23:49, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
