Hong Kong family
[edit]- Wen family
- Man (文), a major family in the history of Hong Kong
These entries appear to me to be redundant. Isn't the Wen family in that redirect's target the Man family mentioned in the history of Hong Kong? -- JHunterJ 16:04, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- There is an independent mention of "Man" (文) within History of Hong Kong#Imperial China Era (221 BC - 1800s). I just thought it was important enough to link separately. If it's redundant, I'll revert myself.--Endroit 16:10, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe Wen family should be removed then, since it's only a redirect to one of the existing entries, and history of Hong Kong restored. -- JHunterJ 20:51, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- Is there any way we can have 2 links in one line?...like below?...:
- Wen family (文), a major family in the history of Hong Kong
- ...or...
- Wen family (文), a major family in the history of Hong Kong
- If not, just take a pick. Either one seems fine with me.--Endroit 23:52, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Cleanup
[edit]Copied from my Talk page:
- What in my revision of 文 is in violation of WP:MOSDAB#Piping and WP:R#NOTBROKEN? I didn't pipe anything, I replaced 漢文帝 with Emperor Wen of Han (which is certainly clearer at English Wikipedia and matches all of the other entries in the list) while keeping the Chinese text, and added additional info that you summarily removed. — AjaxSmack 17:11, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- You were "fixing" a redirect 漢文帝 that wasn't broken, contrary to WP:R#NOTBROKEN. The redirect was chosen because it matched the dab page, per WP:MOSDAB#Piping. None of the other entries in the list have such a redirect, so they can't match. Readers using English are not likely to need the 文 page at all. -- JHunterJ (talk) 10:58, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

- I disagree with your rationale on the last point but, putting that aside, what was wrong with my other edits? My other edits were to correct a redirect due to an article move (one not involving the character 文) and a copy edit. The "undo" function should not be used for non-vandalism without explanation. ("If you are undoing an edit that is not vandalism, explain the reason in the edit summary rather than using only the default message." as the accompanying guidance says.) — AjaxSmack 17:19, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- Which is why I expounded upon that edit summary. Correcting any redirects is counter to WP:R#NOTBROKEN. In the Wen case, it's possible that the redirect is more useful to readers here. -- JHunterJ (talk) 22:21, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- Alright, that's two. What about the Vietnamese diacritic and copy edits? — AjaxSmack 00:26, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry about the diacritic; I restored it. I think that was the only other edit? -- JHunterJ (talk) 10:55, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
