Historically (especially in the interwar period), the base was called Zokniai aerodrome (Lithuanian: Zoknių aerodromas). Today, the official name is Lithuanian Air Force Air Base (Lietuvos kariuomenės Karinių oro pajėgų Aviacijos bazė). However, most sources use Šiauliai Air Base (Šiaulių aviacijos bazė) or Zokniai Air Base (Zoknių aviacijos bazė). A quick search on the Internet suggests that the former is more common, both in English and Lithuanian languages, although I was told the air force personnel themselves colloquially use the latter.
Having created the relevant redirects, I decided to use Šiauliai Air Base in the article lead as per WP:COMMONNAME. If anybody is reading this talk page, feel free to share your thoughts on this. --Mindaur (talk) 13:24, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
