who said that ?

[edit]

I was born in 1969 in izmit, and 37 years i lived here. I never heard anyone called as "izmid".. --Onder K. 02:23, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I actually meant to revert the part where you described İzmit as a "province". I'm pretty sure it's a city. Khoikhoi 02:37, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The city is not also known as Kocaeli. Kocaeli is the province name, Izmit is its central town (or city)(Probably the exact translation is "Central Town" rather then city of the "Province.) Izmit and Kocaeli are totally different terms. In Turkey many central towns (cities) of the provinces' names and their central towns'(cities) names are same. For example Ankara province, its central town also called Ankara city. Manisa province, its central town called Manisa city etc. But 4 provinces' central towns have called different names. They are Kocaeli (Izmit), Sakarya (Adapazari), Mersin (Icel), Hatay (Antakya). Actually 3. Icel is changed into Mersin in 2002 by the goverment. So only 3 provinces left with different central towns (cities).

Fair use rationale for Image:Izmit logo.png

[edit]

Image:Izmit logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Before 2004

[edit]

By the act of 5216 in 2004, Metropolitan center of Kocaeli encompass whole of the province. Between 1993 and 2004, however, only some districts ( 3 ? ) were the parts of the municipality. Which districts had been included in the municipality of metropolitan center before 2004 ? Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 09:22, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Izmit v Nicomedia

[edit]

The ancient city of Nicomedia has a separate entry in Wikipedia, and a comparison of the histories is less than superb. Logically they should be a single article! Is there a policy of keeping them separate? Ender's Shadow Snr (talk) 23:26, 8 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
