Edits 1.3.2021 by User:CeskaLipaInfo
[edit]User:CeskaLipaInfo edited several expressions on this article on 1 March 2021 (diff). I am recording here the rationale for reverting these changes for clarity:
- Wikipedia does not (yet) use the term "Czechia". This was established by consensus here and again here. It may be revisited in the future, but until then we generally use Czech Republic per WP:COMMONNAME
- "Neighbourhood" was changed to "neighborhood". This is a difference between US and British English, does not need to be corrected, and should be retained unless there is a good reason. See WP:ENGVAR and MOS:RETAIN. The same applies to changing the term "main station" to "central station". Indeed, Czech municipal information provided in English translates "hlavní nádraží" as "main train station".
- References to "railways" were changed to "railroad". This is an archaic term from US English that is not in common usage, especially in Europe.
- References to "districts" were changed to "county". English-language sources about the Czech Republic almost always use district as a translation for both okres (eg. Districts of the Czech Republic) and Městská část (eg. Prague 1).
- References to Česká Lípa as a town were replaced with 'city'. It does not have statutory city status (see Statutory city (Czech_Republic)) and if this has changed, that article should be updated and a source must be provided.
Please do not change these expressions again without establishing consensus on the talk page. Jdcooper (talk) 17:45, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
