Edit summary

Here is the summary of my contribution to this article, because it didn't fit into the "edit summary" section. I have modified the introduction to the article and made some edits and minor additions in the "history" section, but underneath it the article has been heavily modified and I have included some new sections and mostly added some major additions to them. The description of the picture showing the Zrinski castle has been simplified because the text that was there is now included in the article. Aside of that, both pictures have been unchanged. In the "notable people" section some wikilinks have been removed because they are either included in the text prior to that section or understandable to most people without further explanation and therefore not much necessary to be included in such sections. A big part of the external links have been removed due to their insignificance to the international readers or the article in general and the only links that have been left there are those to the pages about the city itself (its official site), the tourist information about it and some of its notable features such as the museum and the school of animated film. In that section I have also added the information (icons) about the languages in which the linked website is available. Throughout the text I have also added some translations of the names of some locations and events in the city, but some of them may refer to the term that is used among the residents of the city instead of being literally translated from or into the Croatian language.

Let's keep 'Notable people' list notable

OK, people. Let's not bloat the article with unimportant stuff. I have removed a "model" called "Petra Tomšić" from the list of the Notable people.
Rationale: I asked five people from Cakovec if they now her and none of them did, but they know about (or have heard of) every other person on the Notable people list. Maybe she would fit the 'Celebrity' section better, but this is also questionable. Googling her name reveals that she was a first runner-up of Miss-Tourism of NW Croatia (sigh).
So, it would be better to focus on the information which is interesting to the international readers, as MH-Micky pointed out.

Picture of Čakovec

Which picture is more representative of Čakovec and should be in the article until a better one is found: Cakovec_126 or JUG_(19)? Please provide a representative picture of the city (a panorama, an image of the city-centre or the park and the castle) if you have one. Mrcina (talk) 21:02, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Zrinski's title

Why is Juraj IV Zrinski called a duke in this article? His title in Latin was "comes perpetuus" (perpetual, or eternal count - the highest title of nobility in the Lands of the Crown of St. Stephen), while in Croatian he was usually called "knez" - a generic Slavic title for a ruler applied to men of various ranks ranging from magnate to sovereign prince. He was called "groff" (count) in Hungarian. All things considered, I believe his title corresponds to the English word "count", at least in meaning if not in amount of power (he was more powerful than many foreign dukes) or exact order of precedence (his title was first in precedence among the nobility).
