"Was retired"
[edit]"Was retired" suggests agency other than his own. What exactly is being said here? - Jmabel | Talk 16:45, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Joe, if I understood correctly, casts were drawn for them to voted in and out of office. Dahn 17:01, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- "casts were drawn" is unclear. Do you mean "lots were drawn" (meaning it was determined by chance)? Or do you mean something else? - Jmabel | Talk 08:07, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, that's it. Only I was mistaken (I remembered it was something funny, but I guess it wasn't that weird). From the article on French Directory: "The constitution specified the executive as consisting of five directors, chosen by the Ancients out of a list elected by the Five Hundred. One director faced retirement each year." Dahn 12:23, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
