Some questions following GOCE Copy-edit
[edit]In response to a request for a copy-edit of Éder Monteiro Fernandes at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests, I have just completed the copy-edit. I have two questions:
1) In the "Career" section is the following sentence:
- In August 2009, Éder signed for Portuguese Primeira Liga club Rio Ave but he could get international clearance two weeks later.
The last part of this sentence does not make sense, and I am not sure how to fix it. Do you mean this?
- In August 2009, Éder signed for Portuguese Primeira Liga club Rio Ave but he could not get international travel clearance until two weeks later.
Or, instead of "international travel clearance", perhaps you mean he could not get a visa.
Let me know what you mean to say here.
- international travel clearance is what the source mean. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 10:23, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
2) The first sentence of the second paragraph in the "India" section is:
- After the league was over, Éder signed for I-League club Salgaocar, becoming the fourth and final foreigner for the Malky Thomson-led side.
If you look at the revision history, you'll see that I added the hyphen between "Malky Thomson" and "led". If that is not correct, then I don't know what this is supposed to be saying. I assume (because of the past participle "led") that Malky Thomson was either the coach or a star player. However, I should add that for a reader not especially familiar with football/soccer, that phrase, "for the Malky Thomson-led side", doesn't mean very much. In the context of one football/soccer club, what is a "side", and who is Malky Thomson? Perhaps a bit more detail could be added to make this clearer. Corinne (talk) 05:52, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
- I think it should be Malky Thomson managed side. RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 10:23, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
- O.K., Royroydeb, but what does "side" mean? It mentions only one team there, doesn't it? It says, "I-League club Salgaocar". Isn't a club the same as a team? Can you either explain what "side" means (in this context), or select a different word? Corinne (talk) 16:13, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
