Sahaba ?

[edit]

Does Aminah count as a Sahaba ? MP (talk) 10:27, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why not? What else?--Striver 16:45, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, im not that sure anymore... --Striver 16:49, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No. she is not, for a sahaba is a person who both saw the Prophet Muhammad and believed in him. Amina saw him, but died long before he became a Prophet and began propogating his Message. —Preceding

Actually the definition of a Sahaba is someone who was seen by the Prophet Muhammad (as there were Sahabas who were blind) as was a Muslim. There is a difference of opinion whether the Prophet's parents were Hanif or not and also whether the Prophet was a prophet at birth or not (but started propagating Islam at the age of 40). Westgate Mall Shooting

[edit]

I don't think a current event ought to be placed as a entire section of a biography, especially as it is a footnote and not really relevant. There were other shibboleths asked of people this one was anecdotal. Its presence on this page feels at best misplaced, at worst, a means of adding negative content to link the person to unrelated events. 20:28, 23 September 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by CivEngAlyssa (talkcontribs)

Thanks to whoever cleared the section and made reasonable links. I think this brings the quality of the article up a few notches - great work. CivEngAlyssa (talk) 14:53, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Contradiction

[edit]

Says on this page Muhammad's father died two months before his birth, but [Muhammad's page] specified it was six months. 108.19.84.216 (talk) 02:37, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Typo in calligraphy image.

[edit]

The spelling in the calligraphy is wrong; the name does not contain a ي and is just آمِنَة. Munshii (talk) 20:12, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Fate in the afterlife"

[edit]

I find the name of this section out of place in the article since it is part of a religious narrative and is preceded by two historical sections. Maybe something like "In Islamic tradition" would be a more appropriate section title with "Fate in the afterlife" as a sub-heading. Chronikhiles (talk) 10:03, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: moved. per consensus. – robertsky (talk) 00:47, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

– First off, we need a move because no initial hamza (the ' in 'Amina) should be written per WP:MOSAR.
I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that the prophet's mother is not the wp:primary topic for Amina, i.e., I believe that it is not more likely to be the topic sought after when typing "Amina" than all other possible topics combined, since there are a lot of notable Aminas listed at Amina (given name). This includes both people named Āmina (long a, short i; like the prophet's mother) and people named Amīna (short a, long i), which both need to be spelled "Amina" per WP:MOSAR's basic transcription rules.
If 'Amina is moved to Amina bint Wahb, Amina should be a disambiguation page with the content currently on Amina (given name).
If someone believes that the prophet's mother is the primary topic for Amina, I'm fine too with simply moving 'Amina to Amina. ☿ Apaugasma (talk ) 19:03, 27 December 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Seawolf35 T--C 10:27, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
