Strzelce [ˈstʂɛlt͡sɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Domaszowice, within Namysłów County, Opole Voivodeship, in south-western Poland.[1] It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) north-west of Domaszowice, 11 km (7 mi) east of Namysłów, and 45 km (28 mi) north of the regional capital Opole.
History
[edit]The name of the village is of Polish origin and comes from the old Polish word strzelec, which means "hunter" or "archer".[2] The local parish church was established probably in the 13th century.[3] In the past, the village was divided into three parts.[3] In 1885, all three parts combined had a population of 1,229.[3]
