Sokudo Electric India Pvt. Ltd.[1] is an Indian two-wheeler manufacturer, based in Greater Noida. The two-wheeler company focuses on designing, developing, manufacturing, and selling high-quality, innovative electric two-wheelers. Sokudo Electric was co-founded by Prashant Vashishtha and Nishant Vashishtha, who jointly invested in the project. Its headquarters and new plant are located in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It also has an active branch office in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
History
[edit]Prashant Vashishtha,[2][3][4] a two-wheeler enthusiast, began exploring alternative automotive solutions in November 2019. During the lockdown, the cofounder of the EV startup[5] realized the immense potential of the Indian Electric Vehicle (EV) market, which further encouraged him to analyze the EV segment and the scope of India's best electric scooter.
The company was founded in 2021 as a private limited company with around 50 employees, primarily comprising the R&D team. The brand's inaugural electric two-wheeler, the Acute, underwent 32 modifications to integrate customer feedback. In April 2024, the company expanded its team size by recruiting a dedicated sales team and beginning its operations.
The company is currently operational in approximately 100 locations[6][7] across India, including Tier-I and Tier-II cities such as Delhi,[8] Noida, Ghaziabad, Surat, Ahmedabad, Indore, Ujjain, Jalgaon, Mathura, Agra, and Prayagraj. The brand's top 05 electric scooter dealerships[9] are concentrated in Northern India, keeping up with the increasing demand for EVs in the region. The company has around 110 people with expertise in various fields such as plant operations, sales, quality analysis, and customer service.
Production & Infrastructure
[edit]Plant Details
[edit]Sokudo Electric India has a 20,000-square-foot motor and controller plant[10] in Greater Noida that supports its R&D activities. The plant is a part of the company's strategic move to achieve Zero Quality Defects in its electric scooters and manufacture 'Made in India' vehicles at affordable rates and propel electric vehicle development.[11] The in-house facility allows Sokudo Electric to design prototypes and test new motors and controllers more efficiently to prevent product issues after testing and trials.
Investments
[edit]Sokudo Electric was co-founded by Prashant Vashishtha[12] and Nishant Vashishtha with an initial capital of approximately INR 100 crore. The electric vehicle two-wheeler manufacturer has invested around INR 5.5 crore in each of its four high-speed electric models, Acute, Acute 2.2, Rapid 2.2, and Select 2.2,[13] and one advanced low-speed model, Plus. Sokudo Electric has allocated around INR 1 crore for ICAT certification and another 4 crore for market trials and practices. The company is seeking funds to support its future growth and plans for the future of electric two-wheelers in India.
