The film was originally supposed to be called Guests,[4] but at the last minute the director had a conflict with the management of Belarusfilm regarding the deadline, he was suspended from work, and it was decided to reject the film itself or finish it with another director. Then Zgolich stole the working material with the intention of finishing the film himself,[5] for which a criminal case was opened against him for theft on an especially large scale. The trial began. After serving a year in a pretrial detention center, the director was declared insane and transferred to the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Mental Health for compulsory treatment. He also refused to author the film.[2]
