Singha Thekchen Namdrol Rinpoche, (born Felix Lee) is a Buddhist teacher and the Spiritual Director of the Thekchen Choling centres in Singapore, Malaysia (Kota Tinggi, Malacca) and in the United States (Syracuse).[1][2][3][4]

Early life and career

[edit]

At the age of seven, he began his Buddhist studies under the guidance of Venerable Phra Mahathongkum, a Thai monk. His teacher had a vision of Rinpoche’s future spiritual teachers wearing "red robes".

After his first teacher's passing, Rinpoche continued his studies in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. At 15, he experienced dreams directing him to fulfill past-life vows. He moved to Nepal, where he met Lumbum Rinpoche and his Root Gurus.

Training at Kopan Monastery in the Gelugpa tradition, Rinpoche was initiated as a Yogi (a lay Lama). Advised by Geshe Lama Konchog to forgo monastic vows, he founded Thekchen Choling in 2001.[5]

On October 24, 2014, Rinpoche was officially recognized by Lama Zopa Rinpoche as a high Gelug Lharampa reincarnate.[6]

On April 10, 2017, Rinpoche was given a new name by Kaybje Jhado Rinpoche, the former abbot of Namgyal Monastery. He is now known as Singha Thekchen Namdrol Rinpoche.[7]

Teachings and Philosophy

[edit]

Rinpoche’s teachings emphasize practical Dharma practice.

His motto: “Think not for yourself. Speak not for yourself. Do not for yourself. Always benefit others”.[8]
