Shalamzar (Persian: شلمزار)[a] is a city in the Central District of Kiar County, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4] It also serves as the administrative center for Kiar-e Gharbi Rural District.[5][b]

Population
[edit]At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 7,003 in 1,671 households,[8] when it was capital of the former Kiar District of Shahrekord County. The following census in 2011 counted 7,132 people in 1,965 households,[9] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Kiar County. Shalamzar was transferred to the new Central District.[4] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 6,899 people in 2,116 households.[2]
