Shahi Masjid was a historic mosque located in the Saidabad area of Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh, India, dating back to the 16th century. The mosque was demolished on January 9, 2023, as part of a road-widening project.[1][2][3]

History

[edit]

The Masjid was believed to have been constructed during the 16th century, possibly under the rule of Sher Shah Suri, who established the Sur Empire in India

Demolition

[edit]

In 2023, the mosque was demolished to make way for a road-widening project on the Grant Trunk Road.[4][2][5]
