Samuel Cochran Mims V (born April 2, 1972) is an American politician. He is a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives from the 97th District, being first elected in 2003. He is a member of the Republican party.[1]

Mims' great-grandfather, Sam Mims Jr., was a (Democratic) Mississippi state senator.[2]

He was married to the former Amanda Ashley Legg at Centenary United Methodist Church in McComb on September 7, 1996.[3][4] They have two daughters and one son, named Sam VI.[2][5]

On Tuesday, July 7, 2020 Mims, who chairs the House Public Health Committee, announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19.[6]
