Roland Idowu (born 21 January 2002) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on loan from EFL League One club Shrewsbury Town.
Club career

[edit]Born in Dublin, Idowu spent his early career with St Joseph's Boys, Southampton and Cardiff City.[1]
He returned to Ireland in August 2021, signing for Bohemians,[2][3][4] before moving to Waterford in January 2022.[5][6]
Shrewsbury Town
[edit]In December 2023 it was announced that he would sign for English club Shrewsbury Town in January 2024.[7][8]
On 24 June 2024, Idowu joined Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on a season-long loan deal.[9]
International career
[edit]Idowu represented Ireland at under-16, under-17, and under-18 youth levels.[3] He represented Ireland at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship.[5]
Style of play
[edit]He is described as an attacking midfielder, who can also operate on the wing.[2][10]
Personal life
[edit]Idowu has Nigerian heritage.[11] He is close friends with Tunmise Sobowale, with the two being teammates at both Waterford and Shrewsbury.[12]
