Rick Goodale (born March 26, 1970) is an American professional stock car racing driver and retired police sergeant who last competed part-time in the ARCA Menards Series West, driving the No. 31 Chevrolet for Rise Motorsports.

Racing career

[edit]

In 2024, it was revealed that Goodale would make his debut in the ARCA Menards Series West at the double-header weekend at Irwindale Speedway, driving the No. 31 Chevrolet for Rise Motorsports.[1][2][3] In the Thursday race, he set the seventeenth time in the lone practice session, but did not set a qualifying time and finished in nineteenth after failing to take the start of the race.[4][5][6] In the Saturday race, Goodale set the slowest time in practice and qualifying, and finished fourteen laps down in sixteenth place.[7][8][9]

Personal life

[edit]

Goodale is a retired police officer and public information specialist for the Gastonia, North Carolina police department. In 2023, he was suspended without pay and later fired by the department after social media posts resurfaced of Goodale using the police departments Facebook account to harass a veteran who was arrested in October 2021.[10]
