Puffball Collective is a fictional group appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. It was created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist Sal Buscema, and first appeared in Incredible Hulk #301 (August 1984).
Fictional character biography
[edit]The Puffball Collective is an alien who the Hulk met after being banished to the Crossroads, a dimension that links to all other dimensions. It tries to help him survive after he loses his sanity and is reduced to a feral, animalistic state.[1]
Unable to leave the Crossroads, Hulk and the Puffball Collective travel throughout it and battle the U-Foes and Klaatu.[2] Afterward, the two return to the Collective's home world, which was ravaged by the demonic N'Garai and sealed off by a chained gate. However, the Hulk eventually learns that the Collective was responsible for the disaster, having summoned the N'Garai while studying magic and been banished to the Crossroads as punishment. In response, he leaves it to be attacked by the N'Garai and repairs the gate so that it cannot escape.[3][4]
Powers and abilities
[edit]The Puffball Collective possesses telepathy, and can alter its shape and regenerate if damaged due to its non-solid body. However, it is unable to alter its size and is vulnerable to fire.
