History and profile

[edit]

Primer Acto was established in 1957,[1] and the first issue appeared in April of that year.[2] It was started as a successor to Teatro, which existed from 1952 to 1957.[3] The magazine is published on a bi-monthly basis and covers Latin American and Spanish theatre.[1] José Monleón is the director of the magazine, which is headquartered in Madrid.[1] One of the earlier directors was José Monleon.[4] José Luis Alonso is among the former editors.[3] At the beginning of the 1960s the members of the editorial board included Arnold Wesker and Kenneth Tynan.[3]
