New portal

[edit]

Since WikiProject Volcanoes has now been active for over a month, it seemed to be the right time to go ahead and create a portal about volcanoes and volcanology. This is just version 1.0 today, and content will surely be expanded in the future, along with hopefully regular updates to the selected article, picture, and igneous rock. Please feel free to make any comments or suggestions either here, or at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Volcanoes. Thanks. --Seattle Skier (See talk tierS) 02:35, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good stuff! Well done. Eve 10:54, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Geologizing the Golan Heights

[edit]

I made an attempt to add some organized geology and vulcanism to Golan Heights, please give it a technical look-see; it is a 'start-class' article for the portal. Regards, CasualObserver'48 (talk) 14:56, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Volcano news

[edit]

Should there be a section of volcano news (recent activity and eruptions, new discoveries, etc.)? --The High Fin Sperm Whale (TalkContribs) 22:01, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I dont know. We'll see. ResMar 20:34, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Mount Nyamuragira just erupted again. I think we had better add something about it before it isn't news anymore! --The High Fin Sperm Whale (TalkContribs) 18:31, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
ResMar set up a news section a few days ago. I've added the latest Nyamuragira eruption to it. -- Avenue (talk) 00:03, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
yeah, it's mostly comeplete now, a portal peer review and a portal fc and I'll be darned if it doesn't pass. The news does need maintaining, however. The one thing I don't like with Portals is the ton of maintanance involved...ResMar 03:13, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notice from the Portals WikiProject

[edit]

WikiProject Portals is back!

The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.

As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.

There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.

And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.

From your friendly neighborhood Portals WikiProject. Hope to see you there. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   07:50, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
