So far, we've been able to spread around the love:

September-November 2006:

Article - SF then East Bay (Oakland)
Picture - Peninsula
DYK picture - East Bay (Bridge) and SF
Quote - SF

December:

Article - Silicon Valley
Picture - Peninsula
DYK picture - North Bay (Napa)
Quote - SF

January 2007:

Article - North Bay (Sonoma)
Picture - East Bay (Berkeley)
DYK picture - SF
Quote - Silicon Valley

February:

Article - SF
Picture - North Bay (Marin)
DYK picture - Silicon Valley
Quote - East Bay (Berkeley)

March:

Article - East Bay (preferably not Oakland or Berkeley)
Picture - SF
DYK picture - North Bay (maybe Solano?)
Quote - Silicon Valley/Peninsula (preferably Peninsula, if one can be found. Else, SF)

Not too bad. We need some more featurable content for Contra Costa County, Solano County, the Livermore Valley, the upper/mid Peninsula, and northern reaches of the North Bay.DaveOinSF 00:49, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quote discussion

[edit]

I don't think we should strive for regional balance in this section. There are simply a lot more famous quotes about San Francisco than there are about the other areas in the Bay Area. So I think this section should alternate between a San Francisco-based quote and a non-SF-based quote.--DaveOinSF 05:49, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inasmuch as the first two quotes were SF-based, the next one should not be based on SF.

Proposal for January, 2007 quote:

  • "On January 24th, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you'll see why 1984 won't be like 1984." - from the famous 1984 television commercial.

Cal Bears

[edit]

I loved Joe Starkey's quote from the 1982 Cal - Stanford Big Game. Maybe the next one should be a sports quote??

Santa Cruz County?

[edit]

The map of the San Francisco Bay Area on this portal shows Santa Cruz County to be part of the San Francisco Bay Area, yet Santa Cruz County is not listed as one of the counties in the SFBA. I think its appropriate it not be so listed, as Santa Cruz County is part of the Monterey Bay Area. Additionally, while the SFBA is clearly located in Northern California, a strong case could be made for Santa Cruz County being the beginning of the Central California Coast. While most of Santa Cruz County lies directly west of Santa Clara County, the Santa Cruz Mountains actually make it quite geographically isolated from Santa Clara County, and the rest of the SFBA. Additionally, Santa Cruz County does not, unlike the other nine counties indisputably a part of the SFBA, share any coastline with the San Francisco Bay. I believe the map should be edited in order to remove Santa Cruz County from the visual depiction of the SFBA (but I do not know how to do that, alas). I found a map over at Wikimedia Commons, which features just the nine counties traditionally regarded as part of the San Francisco Bay Area, and have replaced the previous image with it. KevinOKeeffe (talk) 09:42, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't mind including Santa Cruz county within the scope of the task force. WhisperToMe (talk) 13:58, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
By local definition, its not strictly part, but I am not opposed to including occasional material on it.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 01:22, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
