Notice from the Portals WikiProject
[edit]WikiProject Portals is back!
The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.
As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.
There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.
Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.
And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.
From your friendly neighborhood Portals WikiProject. Hope to see you there. Sincerely, — The Transhumanist 07:27, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
Portal status
[edit]Is this portal still maintained? Nice that the selected articles transclude the current section 0 from actual articles, so they don't remain too outdated. I'm glad to see that several of the quotations have sources, but many don't have any source and are not in Wikiquote either. I suggest to remove the unsourced quotations. 2020 updates and expansion
[edit]- I commented-out the News section of the portal (diff). The most recent news is from 2015, and articles listed below that are even older. I also moved the WikiProjects box downward, because the projects are not as popular as they once were, and portals typically list project information lower down, rather than at the top. - Updated using Template:Transclude random excerpt, which provides readers with current, up-to-date information that is verbatim to that in articles. A consensus approving the usage of transclusion templates in portals was formed at this Village Pump discussion. Used selections copied from Portal:Drink/Selected person to the main portal page. North America1000 04:27, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
- Added more selected biographies, to provide a more comprehensive topical overview: Isaac Wolfe Bernheim, Bronfman family, Elijah Craig, Hiram Walker, Harry C. Hatch. North America1000 04:27, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
- Added more to Selected biography section, to provide a more comprehensive selection from a geographic standpoint: Zong Qinghou, Mohamed Yehia Zakaria, Dietrich Mateschitz, Jean-Claude Beton, Melitta Bentz, Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, Amund Ringnes (brewery owner, 1840), Ludwig Roselius. North America1000 04:37, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
- More GA-class articles were added to Portal:Drink/Selected article today: Lemon drop, Tea processing, Rum and coke, The Glenlivet distillery, Alcoholic beverages in Oregon. North America1000 19:37, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
- The following selected ingredients have been added to Portal:Drink/Selected ingredient: Aspartame, High-fructose corn syrup, Caramel color, Potassium benzoate, Bitters, Purified water. North America1000 23:42, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
