I do not agree with deletion of this item.
The sources for the reporters were scientists in the field. The Washington Post reporter's source is "Dan Fagre, a scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey" and the BBC reporter's source is. "Ann Rowan, who led the field study team from the universities of Sheffield and Leeds."
