Double soft redirect
[edit]To editor Nihonjoe: Soft redirects, including double soft redirects, should be used only to go to sister projects and should not be used to redirect to portal pages. Please see the documentation. Further, when you look near the TOP of the page, there is a backlink (because this is a subpage) to Portal:Current events, so there is no need for the redirect link to that page. To editor Nihonjoe: Please be kind enough to explain why you have not yet removed this double-soft redirect? In an effort to clean up the soft-redirected pages, all the others have been removed from Category:Wikipedia interwiki soft redirects, because the Double soft redirect template should only be used to redirect to sister projects and should not be used to redirect to other enwiki pages. And I also do not understand why you are unable to see the backlink near the top of the page. For example at the top of this page there is a backlink to Portal talk:Current events on the next line after the "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". There is a similar back link to Portal:Current events on the next line after the "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" on the subject page, so there is no need for a second link to Portal:Current events. Can you not see the backlinks? Paine u/c 16:55, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Paine Ellsworth: Because I don't spend every waking moment on Wikipedia. I've been out of town and not checking anything on Wikipedia for the last week or so. I don't schedule my life around Wikipedia. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 02:22, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
- To editor Nihonjoe: Please forgive me if I appear impatient. I was working to clear this last page out of Category:Wikipedia interwiki soft redirects so it can be used to monitor the "single" soft redirects, which also tag some pages that are not interwiki redirects and also need to be repaired. This page, since it is a portal-to-portal redirect, will end up back in that category and in need of repair, because it is not an interwiki redirect. So now this page needs to be converted into a "hard" or "regular" redirect that targets Portal:Japan. That way it will not populate the category, and I will go on to convert any other non-interwiki soft redirects into hard redirects. Thank you for your help and understanding in this matter.
