[edit]- 1906 – The first part of Jingzhang railway, linking Beijing and Zhangjiakou in China, opens for service.
- 1916 – Construction is completed on the Hell Gate Bridge in New York City.
- 1933 – Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad enters receivership; Samuel Insull is forced out of the railroad's presidency.[1]
- 1939 – New York State Railways closes the University Line in Syracuse, New York.
- 1967 – The Monon Railroad ceases all passenger train operations.
21st century
[edit]- 2003 – Tobu Railway, in Japan, ends freight operations to concentrate on passenger train operations.
