[edit]- 1835 – The Ludwigs-Eisenbahn starts the first regular passenger service between Nuremberg and Fürth using a steam locomotive.
20th century
[edit]- 1906 – The Southern Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad jointly form the Pacific Fruit Express Company (PFE) refrigerator car line.[1]
- 1946 – The power car from the M-10002 streamliner trainset is sold to Northrup-Hendy for gas turbine train testing.
- 1993 – Colin Ferguson opens fire with his Ruger 9mm pistol on a Long Island Rail Road train, killing six and injuring 19. The event becomes known as the Long Island Rail Road massacre.[2]
21st century
[edit]- 2005 – QJ 7081 pulls the world's last regularly scheduled passenger train behind a steam locomotive on a mainline railroad when it pulls a train between Daban and Chabuga, China.
