- 1880 – The Miami Valley Narrow Gauge Railway in Ohio is sold under foreclosure; it will soon be reorganized as the Cincinnati Northern Railway.[1]
- 1921 – Canadian National Railway closes the Henderson Avenue station in Ottawa, a station originally built by Canadian Northern Railway, in favor of Ottawa Union Station (pictured).[2]
- 1961 – The last Pacific Electric Railway line, connecting downtown Los Angeles to Long Beach, California, is closed.[3]
- 1968 – The last run of the Golden State passenger train on the Rock Island and Southern Pacific railroads departs Los Angeles.
