- 1968 – A crash of a BKS Air Transport cargo plane landing at Heathrow Airport kills 6 people and 8 race horses and damages 3 planes on the ground.

- 1829 – George Shillibeer's first London Omnibus begins operating between the Yorkshire Stingo, Paddington and the Bank of England in the City of London.
- 1904 – Metropolitan Railway extends from Harrow-on-the-Hill to Uxbridge.
- 1932 – Piccadilly line extends from Hammersmith to South Harrow.
- 1936 – Metropolitan line ends services between Quainton Road and Verney Junction.
- 1948 – A mid-air collision above Northwood between a Scandinavian Airlines passenger plane and an RAF transport plan kills 39.

- 1952 – The last tram in London runs between Woolwich and New Cross.
- 1954 – British Railways branch line from Finsbury Park to Highgate and Alexandra Palace closes to passengers.

- 2005 – Four Islamic terrorists detonate bombs on three London Underground trains and a bus killing 52 and injuring more than 700.

- 1450 – In the Battle of London Bridge during Jack Cade's Rebellion Londoners force Cade's rebels out of the city with fatalities on both sides.
- 1876 – Tolls to use Hampton Court Bridge to cross the River Thames are abolished.
- 1889 – Metropolitan Railway extends from Rickmansworth to Chesham.

- 1928 – A collision at London Bridge station kills two when a locomotive runs into the side of another train because of a misread signal.

- 1212 – The Great Fire of 1212 destroys buildings on London Bridge and kills up to 3,000 trapped on the bridge or trying to escape in boats.
- 1801 – Paddington Arm of the Grand Junction Canal opens between Paddington Basin and Bulls Bridge Junction near Hayes.
- 1900 – Bexley Heath Railway taken over by the South Eastern and Chatham Railway.

- 1848 – Waterloo station opens as the new London terminus of the London and South Western Railway replacing Nine Elms which closes to passengers.
- 1875 – Metropolitan Railway ends its use of mainline platforms at Liverpool Street station.

- 1841 – London and Brighton Railway opens line from Norwood Junction to Haywards Heath via South Croydon and Redhill.
- 1875 – Metropolitan Railway opens its own station at Liverpool Street.
- 1921 – Harry Hawker, co-founder of Hawker Aircraft dies in an airplane crash at Burnt Oak after taking off from Hendon Aerodrome.

- 1870 – Victoria Embankment, part of Joseph Bazalgette's Thames Embankment project, opens.
- 1899 – Chipstead Valley Railway absorbed by the South Eastern and Chatham Railway.
- 1928 – A crash of an Imperial Airways passenger plane at Purley shortly after take-off from Croydon Aerodrome kills 4.

- 1919 – The first international commercial flight between London and Paris arrives at Hounslow Heath Aerodrome.
