- 1863 – The West London Extension Railway opens between Addison Road and Clapham Junction.
- 1863 – Battersea Railway Bridge opens to carry the West London Extension Railway over the River Thames.
- 1863 – Clapham Junction station opens to serve the West London Extension Railway, the London, Chatham and Dover Railway, the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway and the London and South Western Railway.
- 1874 – Holborn Viaduct station opens as the second terminus of the London Chatham & Dover Railway.
- 1941 – London North Eastern Railway services between Highgate and East Finchley end having been operating parallel to Northern line services since 1940.
- 1948 – A crash of a Sabena passenger plane landing in poor visibility at Heathrow Airport kills 20. Two rescuers are awarded the George Medal.
