1959 – District line services between Acton Town and South Acton end.
1968 – Following objections to the government's proposal to develop Stansted as London's third airport, the government announces a Commission on the Third London Airport will review options and sites for development.
1975 – Moorgate tube crash on the Northern line's Highbury Branch kills 43 when an Underground trains runs into the end wall of a dead-end tunnel.
