- 1871 - Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole, crown prince during the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy, is born. He would later go on to serve in the United States Congress and create the Hawaiian Homelands system. His birthday is celebrated as Prince Kūhiō Day in Hawaiʻi.
