Presidential election process has begun in Turkish parliament on Friday. According to the new Speaker of the parliamentKöksal Toptan, any deputy aspiring to run for the president can do so until Sunday midnight, August 19, 2007. Voting rounds to elect the new president would be completed within 20 days. First round of the voting will be held in August 20. If they fail on the first round, the second round will be held on August 24.
