Abram returns to Canaan, and separates from Lot in order to put an end to disputes about pasturage. He gives Lot the choice of his abode. Lot went southeast to plains near the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, since the land there was well watered. God again appears to Abram, and promises to him the whole country.
