Finally, the Ark comes to rest on the mountains of Ararat, and the waters recede until the mountaintops emerge. Noah sends out first a raven, and then a dove, and he knows that the waters have subsided. Then he and his family and all the animals leave the Ark, and Noah makes a sacrifice to God. God resolves that never again will He destroy all life in this manner.
