- 1955 - Milwaukee Braves rookie Chuck Tanner hits an eighth-inning pinch hit home run in his first Major League at-bat.
- 1960 - The first official Major League game is played at Candlestick Park as 42,269 fans watch the San Francisco Giants beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 3 - 1.
- 1960 - The Detroit Tigers trade Steve Demeter to the Cleveland Indians for Norm Cash.
- 1962 - Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Pete Richert, in his Major League debut, strikes out the first six batters he faces, tying the record set by Karl Spooner in 1954.
