Philip Zeschmann (born 1967 in West Berlin) is a German politician of the right-wing radical AfD state organiszation Brandenburg,[1] previously BVB/Free Voters and SPD. He has been a member of the Brandenburg state parliament since 2019, initially in the BVB/Free Voters parliamentary group, and since November 2023 in the AfD parliamentary group.

Zeschmann studied economics, business administration and political science at the University of Trier. In 1998 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on the subject of ways out of disillusionment with politicians and parties. Since then he has worked as an "independent consultant" for public administrations in Schöneiche close to Berlin.

Zeschmann was member of SPD from 1987 till 2011 and had minor positions in regional politics. Zeschmann ran twice for the BVB/Free Voters in the state elections in Brandenburg. That failed in 2014, and in 2019 he was elected to the Brandenburg state parliament in fifth place on the BVB/Free Voters list. In the 2017 federal election he ran unsuccessfully for the Free Voters. On November 6, 2023, he announced his resignation from the state association and the state parliamentary group of BVB/Free Voters and switched to the AfD parliamentary group the following day.[2]

Zeschmann rejected claims that his departure was due to coming in eighth place on the BVB/Free Voters state list for the state election.[1] In the state parliament, the remaining four representatives from BVB/Free Voters lost their parliamentary group status when Zeschmann switched to the AfD because they now have fewer than five members. They are defending themselves against this in the state constitutional court.[1]

At the 2024 state election Zeschmann got elected for AfD.[3][4]
