Mohammad Phaim Bhuiyan (Bengali: ফাহিম ভূঁইয়া, pronounced [pɦa;im bʱu' ijɳ]; born 31 October 1995) is an Italian actor, producer, director, and filmmaker.

Early life

Bhuiyan was born in Rome, a second-generation boy originally from Bangladesh, grew up in the Torpignattara district.[1] He attended IPS Virginia Woolf where he studied advertising graphics but discovered his true passion for filmmaking.[2] After high school, he gets a scholarship at the Istituto Europeo di Design[3] and begin to study there.

Career

Bhuiyan is known as director, producer, screenwriter and lead actor of the film Bangla, produced by Fandango which was released in theaters in May 2019. The film was awarded the Italian Golden Globe Awards[4] as best first work with the Nastro d'argento for the best comedy of the 2019.[5] The same year he participated in the episodes of the program "Viva RaiPlay!" hosted by Rosario Fiorello.[6]

On 8 May 2020 he won the David di Donatello award as best new upcoming director.[7] Same month he directs a music-video call "Miami a Fregene" of the singer-songwriter Avincola.[8]

In 2021 he was included on Forbes 30 Under 30-Europe 2021: Entertainment ranking.[9][10] Later on he became one of the judges for Forbes 30 under 30-Europe 2023: Entertainment.[11]

On 13 April 2022, Bangla - La serie was released, directed by Phaim Bhuiyan and Emanuele Scaringi on RaiPlay, consisting of 8 episodes, a sequel to his 2019 film Bangla.[12]
