Pazelva

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pazelva was a shtetl in Vilnius County, Lithuania, near Želva, located at 55°13' / 25°06'.[1] Its residents primarily spoke Yiddish. Its name in Hebrew was Podzelva.[1] Želva is 14 miles east of the city Ukmergė.[2] Maps indicate that nearby is a location named Pazelviai.[3]

Due to the Nazi extermination of Jews during World War II, residents of Pazelva who had not already emigrated were killed.

Descendants of people who fled the village now live in places such as the US, Puerto Rico and Israel.
