Pavlo Chabanov (born July 2, 1986) is a Ukrainian motorsport athlete, IT entrepreneur, developer, startupper, investor, and philanthropist[1][2]. He is an FIA-accredited circuit and drift driver, owner of the Huragan racing team[3][4], and co-founder of the humanitarian foundation Huragan Heals[5].

Chabanov is best known for being the first Ukrainian professional racing driver to represent the country[6][7] in the TCR class[3][8] at the FIA Motorsport Games in 2022[9], held in Marseille. He also founded Huragan[10][11], Ukraine’s first racing team, which took part in the Formula Drift Pro Championship in 2023[12][13].

Pavlo is the founder of the blockchain network Gliesereum, the tech platform for market making Stels[14], and the CEO of the IT company Gliesereum Ukraine[13]. He specializes in cybersecurity, neural networks, and big data[15].

Business career

In 2010, Pavlo joined the BTC development community, deploying 45 technology nodes within a few months. He earned his first bitcoins as a reward for supporting the system[15].

Since 2019 Chabanov’s entrepreneurial and innovative career has been closely associated with Gliesereum Ukraine, blockchain network Gliesereum and various startups[15][16].

He has been a speaker at creative meetups in Kyiv[17], sharing his experiences as a startup founder and businessman[18].

He has also commented in the Ukrainian press on topics such as the creation of the national CBDC (e-hryvnia)[16], the legal regulation[19][20] of the virtual assets market[21][22], and cybersecurity[23].

In 2022, at the Web Summit in Lisbon, Pavlo presented his new startup, Simia, an audio and video P2P platform[24].

He is included in the "40 Under 40 Notable Blockchain Entrepreneurs"[25] ranking as the founder of Gliesereum Ukraine, Simia, and one of Europe’s largest crypto liquidity providers. Chabanov is also known for creating automated market-making systems[13][26] used by the top-10 global crypto exchanges[1].

In 2023, he presented Stels, a tech platform for market making[14], at the Web Summit[27].

Motorsport career

Pavlo began his motorsport career in 2021, competing in three disciplines: circuit racing (Touring[28]), drifting (Pro-Am[29]/Pro[30]), and time attack (R2 Pro[31]). He founded the Huragan racing team[32][33].

Chabanov brought Ukraine its first TCR car, the Seat Leon Cupra, marking a milestone in the country’s motorsport history[34][35]. He competed in several racing series, and took 2nd place[28] in the 4rd round of the Ukrainian Circuit Racing Cup, Touring Car Racing[36].

Pavlo Chabanov started his preparations for the Formula Drift Pro Championship in 2021.

In 2022 — during the year when the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine began — Pavlo was selected for the national motorsport team[37].

From October 29-31, he made history as the first Ukrainian in the TCR class[38] at the FIA Motorsport Games, held at Circuit Paul Ricard[34]. Chabanov competed in an Audi RS3 LMS TCR[39].

Throughout the 2022-2023 seasons, the Huragan racing team’s cars were wrapped in Ukrainian-themed liveries featuring blue and yellow colors, and the trident[3].

In 2023, Huragan became the first Ukrainian team to compete in the Formula Drift Pro Championship[10]. The team raced with the Toyota Supra A90 “Aspida” and the Toyota GT86[12][40].

As part of the 2023 "Battle On Two Continents" World Racing Tour, the team participated in three rounds of Formula Drift: Long Beach[41], Atlanta[42], and Orlando[43], as well as various American and European racing series, including Gridlife[44][45], HyperFest[46][47], FuelFest[48][49], HotPit AutoFest[50][51], Drift Kings[52][53], and Drift Open[54][55].
